Well, I had a Not Good weekend, to say the least. I was driving home from work Friday when I got into a car accident. I have no memory of the accident itself - one moment I was driving, next moment I was in an ambulance being told I'd been in a car crash and was being taken to emergency. My car apparently went headfirst into a curb. They thought at first I had a seizure while I was driving, mostly because I bit the hell out of my tongue. So they stuck me with all kinds of needles and sent me upstairs to stay, and I was in the hospital until Monday afternoon.

While I was there, they found out I have sky-high blood pressure. So they ran all kinds of tests not only on my head but also on my heart. My right arm looks like it's been through a war zone from being stuck with needles in the wrist and the crook of my arm - they kept giving me intravenous blood pressure meds. I also saw a neurologist, who concluded I probably didn't have a seizure - she said the reason I have no memory of the accident is because I had whiplash and a concussion.

So I'm home resting now - they finally sprung me on Monday and sent me home with two blood pressure medication prescriptions and instructions to reduce my stress. Which I plan to do. Quite frankly, I've taken far too much on myself, especially helping out my mother since my father passed away two years ago. So I may be writing a bit slower now - i.e., when I get time in a reasonable schedule, not waking up early on a Saturday morning to be sure I finish and post a fic. (Still planning to have Season of Kink done by the deadline, though!)

By the way, I think I've managed to piece together what happened in the accident. Earlier that day, when I was out getting lunch, I noticed my spark plugs were misfiring and making the car shoot forward. I had been planning to take the car to the shop Monday and have them look at it. My guess is the spark plug misfired in heavy traffic when I was driving home, I twisted the wheel to the right to avoid hitting anyone and I slammed into the curb instead - and I have no memory of the accident itself because of the concussion/whiplash.

(Oh, and I had managed to get the Byou doll I had commissioned from one_short_fuse the day all hell broke loose. I have him on the bed next to me right now, in fact. I'll take pictures when I'm feeling a bit better).

That's really frightening! I'm so glad you're alive and in one piece. I really hope the blood pressure meds help, and you don't have any long-term post-concussion symptoms. <3

Thanks! The post-concussion stuff is going away now - I had headaches and nausea for a few days after the accident, but I haven't had any in the last day or so. I have a followup doctor's appointment tomorrow, we'll see what he says. (Hopefully he'll clear me to go back to normal life, I'm starting to go stir crazy!)

I'm resting. I've mainly been chilling out with my Byou doll binge-watching Steven Universe (except when my mother drove me to the drugstore and to the garage where my car is yesterday). I did have one phone contact with work today, but I'm not letting it stress me out.

Yes that is the best thing to do; just let any fucks you feel like you have to give just fly right out the window~

Get well soon. it is like you are living in a drama movie. 0.o

It's a bit too much drama, really! I could live with a bit more normalcy in my life. But thanks!

Oh wow, that's pretty scary. O___O I'm glad nothing worse happened, but I really hope your blood pressure will go down. Hopefully your Byou doll can help make you feel better too. ♥

Well, they have me on blood pressure meds, and Byou Doll and I have been mostly chilling on the bed binge-watching Steven Universe, so hopefully I will get good numbers when I have my followup visit to the doctor tomorrow. (I'm also hoping I get cleared to resume my normal life on Monday!)

Oh my god, I'm glad you're ok! Yes, please do take it easy - the last thing you want to do right now is stress yourself out!
Jul. 29th, 2015 05:55 pm (UTC)
Yep, I have been - mainly staying home binge-watching Steven Universe and taking it easy (and resisting the temptation to log in to work - I did so yesterday, briefly, to E-mail everyone who should know about the accident). I have a doctor's appointment yesterday to double-check how I'm doing with the pressure, etc.

Of course you have high blood pressure.  You've just been in a car accident.  I'm glad you seem to be ok.

LOL, very true, and we may find that all I needed for the pressure to go down was to get out of that damn hospital. I'm doing better than I was - a lot of the post-concussion stuff (nausea, headaches) has gone away and I'm feeling more like me than I have since I crashed the car.

I had high blood pressure when I went to hospital after falling off a horse when I was younger. Turned out to be the stress of going to hospital because it had gone dramatically lower the next day.

Given that hospitals are stressful in themselves? I can definitely see that. Well, we'll find out what the doctors say tomorrow!

Yikes, I hate car accidents! I'm glad you're okay and hope you feel better <3

Thanks! I'm doing a lot better now that I'm home and resting. At least I don't have the headaches, etc. I had from the concussion anymore.
